Kamisama Hajimemashita (神様はじめました; Kamisama Kiss) is a Japanese manga series by Julietta Suzuki and serialized by Hakusensha in the shoujo manga magazine Hana to Yume. The series is licensed for regional release in North America by Viz Media as a part of their Shojo Beat imprint. An anime adaptation has been produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Akitaro Daichi and began airing in October 2012. It has been streamed by Funimation Entertainment in North America.
Kamisama Kiss began its serialization run in 2008 during the sixth issue of the semi-monthly shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume. The collected chapters were later republished in tankōbon volumes by Hakusensha with the first volume released on September 19, 2008. North American publisher, Viz Media licensed the English language distributions rights at the 2009 New York Anime Festival.
Nanami Momozono is alone and homeless after her dad skips town to evade his gambling debts and the debt collectors kick her out of her apartment. So when a man she's just saved from a dog offers her his home, she jumps at the opportunity. But it turns out that his place is a shrine, and Nanami has unwittingly taken over his job as a local deity! Nanami has all kind of new responsibilities she doesn't understand, dangers she's unaware of, and a cranky ex-familiar who's...actually pretty hot. What's a new-fledged godling to do? Will she be able to understand her responsibilities in time??? Will the ex-hot familiar accept her as the new deity??
